Electronic Arts is launching a user-generated marketplace and creator platform for The Sims 4.
The Sims Maker Program will provide custom content creators with an in-game platform to create and publish their work via The Sims 4 Marketplace. It will launch on March 17, 2026, for PC and Mac. PlayStation and Xbox will be added in the following months.
EA says that creators, known as ‘Makers’, will have “creative ownership of their work and decide how their content is packaged and priced, within the Marketplace guidelines.”
Makers earn money through a virtual currency called Moola, receiving a 30% share of revenue. For every 100 Moola spent, creators earn $0.30.
In comparison, creators on Roblox keep between 50% and 70% of revenue earned on the platform’s UGC marketplace.
The Sims Team is covering “all costs and fees associated with publishing”, such as platform fees, VAT taxes, server costs, and other transactional expenses.
It will also reinvest in the Sims Maker Program by “supporting Makers, improving tools and resources available to them, funding human-led quality verification, as well as ensuring every Maker Pack is translated into 18 supported languages.”
Creator content will be offered to players as Maker Packs, which include Create-A-Sim and/or Build/Buy mode items, containing between three and 30 assets.
EA clarified that The Sims 4 Marketplace does not replace free content, and that Makers can continue to offer free or paid early access custom content or mods on other platforms under its mod policy.
However, content made available elsewhere is not eligible for sale on the marketplace.
