Ubisoft subsidiary Vantage Studios, the new Tencent-backed home of Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry and Rainbow Six, has announced the leadership team for Assassin’s Creed.
Martin Schelling has been named Head of Assassin’s Creed Brand. He was previously Ubisoft’s Chief Production Officer, following a 17-year run in production roles at Ubisoft Montreal working on Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Black Flag, Origins, and Valhalla.
Jean Guesdon has been appointed Head of Content, a role he’d previously held on the brand during a 17-year period in which he also served as Creative Director on Assassin’s Creed Origins and Black Flag. More recently he spent a year at Behaviour Interactive before serving in an internal comms roles at Ubisoft Montreal.
Finally, François de Billy is the brand’s Head of Production Excellence. He too is a company and franchise veteran, having served as Production Director for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Origins, Black Flag and more.
In a post on the company website, Ubisoft described the trio as “seasoned leaders who will play a pivotal role in driving the Assassin’s Creed brand’s long-term vision, creative ambition, and continued growth.”
“Martin, Jean and François have collaborated closely on multiple flagship Assassin’s Creed games throughout the years, across creative, production, and brand strategy. Over the next few weeks, they will transition from their current roles to formally join the Assassin’s Creed leadership team alongside Andrée-Anne Boisvert, Producer for Assassin’s Creed’s cross-brand initiatives and Head of Technological Excellence, and Lionel Hiller, VP Brand and Go-to-Market Strategy, where they are set to steer the brand’s ambitious new chapter.”
The news is the latest part of the company’s ongoing restructuring into Creative Houses, alongside widespread layoffs and studio closures.
