The CEO of Stellar Blade developer Shift Up has been recognized with a Presidential Commendation for his services to the Korean games industry.
The prize was given to Hyung-tae Kim at this year’s Korean Content Awards, a “prestigious” event organized by the country’s own Ministry for Culture, Sports, and Tourism. According to Daum (thanks, Automaton), it recognizes Kim’s work with two of his most famous games, Stellar Blade and Goddess of Victory: Nikke.
“This Presidential Citation is thanks to the developers and fans who believed in and supported Shift Up,” Kim said.
“We will continue to do our best to further promote the competitiveness of Korean games on the global stage.”
Whilst multiplayer title Helldivers 2 sports a concurrent peak of over 450,000 players, making it Sony’s biggest game overall, single-player game Stellar Blade blazed past the concurrent peak records of similar single-player adventures like Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, and Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, which boast peaks of 77,154, 73,529, and 66,436, respectively.
