Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 won big at the Golden Joystick Awards last night, taking home six accolades while developer Sandfall Interactive was named Studio of the Year.
Sandfall’s success matches Larian’s sweep in 2023, which won the same number of awards including Game of the Year and Studio of the Year.
“It’s been an unbelievable year for us,” said Sandfall CEO and creative director Guillaume Broche during the ceremony.
“We don’t really fathom everything that’s going on, but I want to say a massive thank you, first to all the formidable people who worked on this game at Sandfall Interactive, but also, a huge thank you to all the players around the world who voted for us.”
Clair Obscur’s Jennifer English and Ben Starr were recognised for their portrayals of Maelle and Verso in the performance categories.
The game also won Best Storytelling, Best Visual Design, and Best Soundtrack.
Elsewhere, Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Yōtei won Console Game of the Year and Best Audio Design, while Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight: Silksong took home PC Game of the Year and Best Indie Game (Self-published).
Best Indie Game went to Dogubomb’s Blue Prince, with Aggro Crab’s Peak winning Best Multiplayer Game and the Streamers’ Choice award.
