Ubisoft veteran Johannes Thimme has founded Quality Time Studio, a new developer based in Lower Saxony, Germany.
Quality Time Studio is focusing on creating an original game prototype as well as offering consulting, coaching, and mentoring services for emerging developers and indie studios.
This includes supporting product visions, publishing and investor strategies, production processes and business structures, and helping to establish “international and multicultural collaborations.”
Thimme also aims to further establish the games industry in the Lower Saxony region with the founding of Quality Time Studio.
“I often hear from developers who’ve been in the industry for a long time that they can imagine living outside the big cities – that’s a real opportunity for the region,” he explained.
“Compared to some other German states, the games industry in Lower Saxony isn’t as well established yet. I’d be delighted if, with Quality Time Studio, I could help build up another creative hub in the region in the medium to long term – not only for experienced developers, but also for new talent.”
Thimme has two decades of experience in games, having worked at Ubisoft for 13 years.
He held several key positions at the developer, including lead producer, codev director, site director of online services, and was an executive management team member at Ubisoft Düsseldorf.
During Thimme’s tenure at Ubisoft, he worked on major franchises including Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, Star Wars, Avatar, and Rainbow Six.
Thimme also helped establish Ubisoft’s co-development division in Germany, and oversaw the German online services team which develops Ubisoft Connect.
