Beethoven & Dinosaur’s narrative adventure Mixtape won Game of the Year at the SXSW Sydney 2025: Games Showcase Awards.
Taking place over the weekend alongside the SXSW Screen Awards, six accolades were given to local and international developers.
Little Pink Cloud’s cozy puzzle RPG Letters to Arralla took home the Discovery Award, while Studio Pixel Punk won the WINGS Award for its action adventure RPG Abyss x Zero.
LA-based developer Nice Dream won the Best International Award for its sci-fi narrative adventure Goodnight Universe, and Tasty Gold received the Best Student Game award for Abberrate Inc.
“This year’s showcase brought together bold, brilliant, and boundary-pushing titles from across the globe, showcasing the creativity and innovation shaping the future of play,” said SXSW.
“From emerging indie studios to global trailblazers, the Games Awards celebrate the very best in gaming.”
The awards was part of SXSW Sydney 2025’s Games Festival, which took place at the ICC Sydney convention centre and included a curated showcase of game demos and talks.
The overall Games Festival Showcase highlighted 120 games, representing 37 countries alongside six Australian states and territories.
